Marian McTague, R.N., J.D.

Certified Risk Manager and Claims Adjuster for the State of Florida
Director of Claims and Litigation Management

Marian manages the Claims and Litigation division of Campania's Claims and Risk Management department. As Director of this division, she evaluates insurance coverage, liability issues and potential exposure of each claim. She oversees the claims process, from Campania's first notice of the claim through final resolution of the claim. Marian's nursing and legal backgrounds enable her to timely and accurately evaluate the potential exposure of a claim. If a claim cannot be resolved through the efforts of the Campania claims staff, Marian manages the selection of defense counsel who have a proven record of successful defense advocacy. Marian and her staff maintain a collaborative relationship with defense counsel.

Marian obtained her B.S. in nursing from Niagara University where she graduated summa cum laude. She spent subsequent years gaining clinical nursing experience in the emergency department, pediatric, oncology and adult medical/surgical settings. Later, Marian decided to enter the legal field and earned her Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law in Queens, New York. Thereafter she worked as an associate for six years at two New York law firms where she specialized in the defense of medical malpractice cases, products liability claims and appellate work.

Following her litigation career in New York, Marian relocated to Virginia and served as the Assistant Vice President of the Claims Department for a subsidiary of a national healthcare provider. She supervised a Claims Department that handled class actions, products liability, medical malpractice, and nursing home claims and litigation. Utilizing her unique background in both claims and litigation, Marian established a highly successful record with the company by contributing her expertise to mediations, court conferences and trial. Following her years as Assistant Vice President, Marian established a private law practice that concentrated on healthcare and insurance issues. While in private practice, Marian trained in mediation. She originally joined the Campania Group in a consultative capacity, transitioning her focus to risk management and compliance issues. She earned certifications from the State of Florida in Risk and Claims Management. Marian's compliance and risk management expertise allow her to effectively provide compliance and risk management services as part of her overall claims management responsibilities.
